From: Ron Williams Date: Wednesday, December 10, 1997 6:00 PM I got to play quite a bit last week in KC at the Station, as I parlayed a business trip into 4 day stay with my dad.  I want to compliment the Station and Russ as a very pleasant room (although the only other places I've played are Mirage & Horseshoe). At any rate - on Thurs., played 1-5 stud from 12 til 7 (dad had never played casino poker, so I introduced him to it).  Up $235 (dad lost about $50) On Friday decided to play HE - this was my 2nd time ever (played 3-6 at Mirage in Oct., didn't get stuck too bad, something like $60.)  As I was waiting for a table, won $115 at BJ - nice start. Got into a 5-10 game with mostly regulars, and a pretty nice group of folks they were.  Played from 2pm until about 4:30am & got hammered good.  Total about $800 (yeah, I know, should have left earlier.)  At this point, I figured maybe HE ain't gonna' be my game. Well, took a good nap on Saturday & went back about 6pm.  Very first hand, got a straight snapped off by a flush - oh,oh, here we go again! Things went up hill mostly from here.  A little later, I caught QQ. Another one hit on the flop.  Luckily, got all the action from 1 player going for a flush (made on the river as I recall.)  4th Q hit (can't remember now if it was on turn or river) and collected a nice pot. Later, caught 2 more 6's with pocket pair.  Another nice pot. Got up about $150 by midnight.  Then dwindled back down to about even. Then, from about 1 'til I left at 4, caught some good hands and ended up $400. At least I felt like I had a chance at this game, although I've got a lot to learn. Net for the 3 days Day 1 - +$235 Stud         + $65 Quarter slot (waiting for table) Day 2 - +$115 BJ       - -$800 HE (stoopid, stoopid) Day 3 - +$400 HE Ended up dead even thanks to the lucky slot & BJ win. Still had a great time and again thought very highly of the Station poker room. -- Ron Williams Richmond VA
